Success means many different things to many different people. I like to think of reaching any goal or intention I set as success. Recently I met with an amazing group of people during a Spring Cleanse Workshop I held at the studio. I sent an email to them and wanted to share with all of you as well.
Jack Canfield writes in his book The Success Principles about what happens right after you set a goal for yourself (your goal is your “why”) these three things stop many people – but not you! Considerations, Fear, and Roadblocks. Some examples may be:
- Considerations I will have to plan and prepare my meals ahead, I will have to eat differently than the rest of the family, I will not be able to go out with my friends I will have to change the way I shop…….and on and on
- Fears fears are feelings. You may fear people questioning your actions, or fear of implementing the changes. Perhaps a fear may be of stepping out of hiding (this is a HUGE one for me!) Perhaps a fear of rejection, or just fear of change and the unknown.
- Roadblocks are purely external in nature. Perhaps you need to get supplies and your car is in the shop, or you are having a difficult time finding all of the supplies you need. Maybe someone in the household ate the squash you were planning to use for lunch today.
Many people see these as stop signs. These are normal parts of the process that always appear when we set goals. Instead of putting on the brakes, use these subconscious thoughts to learn what it is that holds you back. You may begin to unearth a pattern. As I always say, awareness is the first step in change!!!
